2 employees killed in shooting at Dallas hospital

Hospital officials said two employees were shot and killed at a Dallas hospital on Saturday morning. In retaliation by the police, the accused youth was shot and injured.

According to a news release from Methodist Health System, the situation unfolded at Methodist Dallas Medical Center at approximately 11 a.m. local time.

Methodist Health System Police, along with Dallas Police and Dallas Fire-Rescue, responded to an “active shooter call” at the hospital.

Methodist Health said the suspect shot and killed two hospital staff. The victims could not be immediately identified.

Methodist Health said a reactive Methodist Health System police officer arrived at the scene, “confronted the suspect” and then shot and wounded him, Methodist Health said.

The suspect was taken to another hospital for treatment. His name was not released.

The details and circumstances of the shooting were unclear. There was no word on a possible motive.

Methodist Health said the hospital was “safe” and “there was no danger.”

“The Methodist Health System family is saddened by the loss of two of our beloved team members,” Methodist Health said in a statement. “Our entire organization is saddened by this unimaginable tragedy.”
