An American Airlines flight departing from Miami was forced to make an emergency landing on Wednesday evening, CBS Miami Report,
The station says Flight 338 was on its way to Barbados when it returned to Miami International Airport after several passengers fell ill.
American Airlines said the plane overturned after a passenger’s carry-on luggage smelled chemically in the cabin.
A source familiar with the situation told CBS News that the smell was coming from the nail polish remover.
The plane landed safely and passengers were offered a hotel stay, the carrier said.
Miami-Dade Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the tarmac, CBS Miami reported, with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue saying the plane had to land due to an emergency.
