Don’t be afraid if this Thursday you hear a beep on your mobile: it’s the ES-Alert system

This Thursday, November 10, the Civil Defense will test ES-Alert in León, Salamanca, Valladolid and Zamora, The tool, promoted by the Spanish government, aims to notify citizens in real time in case of a disaster or emergency, in addition, the system is also known as ‘112 inversion’.

Users’ mobiles will emit a beep that will be accompanied by a vibration, and they will also receive a message indicating that it’s a test (This text guarantees that the system works correctly).

The demonstration will be carried out in limited areas by the board’s territorial delegation in Salamanca and the 112 emergency center in Valladolid, while in rural areas it will be tested in the Bierzo region (León) and Sanabria (Zamora province). ,

On November 16, Castilla-La Mancha, La Rioja and Melilla will be next Autonomous communities to receive alerts.



Activate alerts with the following steps

  • Android: ‘Settings’ → ‘Security & Emergency’ → ‘Tap on the Wireless Emergency Alerts option’ → ‘Activate Alerts’.
  • iOS: ‘Settings’ → ‘Notifications’ → ‘Activate Civil Defense Pre-Alert Option’.
