It is being told that 3 people on board the plane are reported to have crashed near the Hawaiian island of Maui.
The Coast Guard was searching late Thursday for a small plane that was reported down off the Hawaiian island of Maui.
The Coast Guard says the plane was apparently carrying three people.
Several Coast Guard ships and aircraft are participating in the search operation.
Update: The @uscg Fast Response Cutter William Hart has joined the search for the downed aircraft which was reported to have 3 people on board.
A patrol boat from Maui Station, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, and a C-130 from Air Station Nye Point are also continuing the search.
