Jay Leno in stable condition after suffering

Jay Leno is recovering after being seriously injured in a gasoline fire, the comedian confirmed to CBS News.

On Monday, the former “Tonight Show” host confirmed reports of a recent medical emergency, saying he suffered “severe burns” from a gasoline fire.

“I had some serious burns from the gasoline fire. I’m fine. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” Leno said in a statement to CBS News.

TMZ reported that one of Leno’s cars went up in flames in his vintage car garage in Burbank on Sunday, burning the left side of the comedian’s face — his eyes and ears saved.

TMZ reported that Leno, 72, was taken to Grossman Burn Center in West Hills for treatment.

Burbank Police issued a statement CBS News Los Angeles It said they were aware of the media reports, but that the agency “did not respond to the incident, was not requested, nor do we have any information about what happened, or the injury.”

People reported that Leno was forced to cancel Sunday night’s appearance at a financial convention in Las Vegas. An email sent by organizers to attendees said that Leno’s family could not provide many details “but there was a very serious medical emergency that was preventing Jay from traveling.
