A Dallas County anesthesiologist labeled a “medical terrorist” by the US Attorney’s Office has been charged with 10 counts, CBS DFW Report,
The indictment surfaced five times in August when Dr. Ray Ortiz was charged with tampering with an IV bag.
The indictment says patients were seriously injured in four of these cases.
Federal investigators believe Ortiz began infusing IV bags with dangerous drugs in May, but has not been able to recover surveillance video from that time.
Ortiz will return in court on Friday, where he is expected not to plead guilty to the charges.
CBS DFW says Reynaldo Rivera Ortiz Jr. is under federal investigation in relation to tainted IV bags, which may have caused the death of a colleague and caused complications in patients during routine surgery.
