Multiple people injured due to two tornadoes

Several buildings, including a medical center, sustained significant damage after at least two tornadoes touched down in the Louisiana city.
At least two tornadoes struck New Iberia, Louisiana, on Wednesday and caused “significant damage” to the Southport Boulevard Subdivision and Iberia Medical Center, New Iberia Police Capt. Leland Lasseter said in a Facebook video post.
“We’ve also had significant damage in the Southport Boulevard subdivision of Admiral Doyle and on the other side of town near the Iberia Medical Center,” Lasseter said. “The hospital has also suffered a lot.”
Lasseter said no casualties had been reported and the injured were being treated at local hospitals.
Lasseter said, “No casualties have been reported yet, just injuries. These people are being treated at local hospitals.”
A spokesperson for the Iberia Medical Center confirmed that the hospital was treating five people in the emergency room with “very minor injuries” and that a tornado had damaged the medical center’s main campus, the medical office building, as well as some ancillary buildings. and damaged structures.
Lasseter said a secondary rescue operation was launched in the Southport Boulevard area and everyone was rescued from that area. A temporary shelter has been set up at New Iberia Senior High School for displaced residents.
The National Weather Service has not yet posted a survey of the damage on the ground.
It follows a tornado in the Pecan Farms area of Keithville in Caddo Parish In southwest Louisiana, a mother and her young son were found murdered in Shreveport, according to the sheriff’s office. The woman was found a block from their home, which had been destroyed, and the boy was found in a nearby wooded area.
