Photos show the devastating damage of Hurricane Ian

Ian, which twice made landfall in the United States as a hurricane, left many areas unrecognizable after devastating flooding, powerful winds, and devastating storm surges in Florida and the Carolinas. As search and rescue efforts continue, StormThe death toll is rising, and communities grapple with the devastation.

on Wednesday, Ian made landfall As a Category 4 hurricane in southwestern Florida. After crossing the peninsula and into the Atlantic Ocean, the storm formed a second landfall – this time as a Category 1 hurricane – in South Carolina on Friday.

At least 28 people died in the storm, and many were left without homes. New photos show extensive damage from one of the strongest storms ever to hit the US:
