One person was injured in a shooting outside the Georgia Walmart Automotive Center, police said Wednesday. Police said several people have been detained.
Cobb County police responded to a report of an active shooter at a Walmart in Marietta, Georgia, police said.
“Immediately upon arrival, it was determined that the shooting was between two separate groups, in an area outside the Walmart Automotive Center,” said Deputy Chief Benjamin Cohen of the Cobb County Police Department. Cohen said at least one person was shot and taken to a hospital in a private car.
Information about the extent of the injured person’s injuries was not immediately available. No other injuries were reported.
Police said they detained several people for questioning, but did not say how many. No arrests had been made till Wednesday evening.
Police initially reported several people were injured but said it was not an active shooting and posed no danger to the public.
“Cobb County Police are at the scene of a shooting at 2795 Chastain Meadows Pkwy,” the Cobb County Police Department tweeted. “Multiple injuries. No active shooter. No current danger to the public.”
