Stray Kids’ Hyunjin’s Grandpa Passes Away; Agency Affairs Statement

There is sad news for all Stray Kids fans as one of the members, Hyunjin, recently lost his grandfather. On October 4, 2022, JYP Entertainment, the K-pop group’s partner agency, notified everyone of a change in Hyunjin’s performance schedule. The latest update has left fans saddened by the whole thing.

JYP Entertainment has released an official statement about Hyunbin and this is what it reads:

Hi, I’m JYPE.

Stray Kids member Hyunjin’s maternal grandfather has passed away.

Consequently, Hyunjin will not be attending ‘NACIFIC’ ‘Stray Kids Video Call Date Part.2’ scheduled for today (4/10).

We ask for STAY’s kind understanding and please send warm words of comfort to Hyunjin.

Rest in peace.

Thank you.”

Speaking of Stray Kids, the boy group released the long-awaited album ODDINARY on March 18, 2022 and it became a huge hit. ODDINARY became the first K-pop album this year to rank for six consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Top Albums chart. This particular chart includes a weekly ranking of the most popular albums in and around the United States.

With this album, Stray Kids became the eighth K-pop group to enter an album on the Billboard 200 chart for not one but six weeks in a row! They followed in the footsteps of BTS, BLACKPINK, NCT, NCT 127, SuperM, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and TWICE in this regard.

Upon its release, Stray Kids’ ODDINARY debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making the band the third Korean artist in history to top the same. They have teamed up with BTS and SuperM to make this Billboard album. Well, the achievements of the mini-album don’t end here. It also debuted at number two on the Taskmaster album chart after its release.
