Taylor Swift is speaking out amid controversy over Ticketmaster’s handling of her upcoming “Eras” tour. The singer commented on the issue on her Instagram Story on Friday, saying that Ticketmaster had assured her team “multiple times” that they “can handle this kind of demand.”
He added, “It goes without saying that I am extremely protective of my fans.” “… It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and it’s excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen without recourse.”
on Thursdays, TicketmasterTickets for the tour started on Friday after hours of complaints about pre-sale site complications and glitches. The company said the cancellations were triggered by unprecedented demand, with more than 3.5 million people pre-registering to receive an access code to purchase tickets.
The company did not say whether more tickets would be sold for the tour at a later date. The tour, which will be a “musical era tour” of Swift’s career, is set to begin next March in Arizona.
Amber Garris, one of Swift’s fans, said, “I could never have imagined how crazy this whole process got.”, “Obviously it didn’t mean if we didn’t get tickets but we are upset.”
Swift said on Friday that the controversy was caused by “a number of reasons” and suggested that Ticketmaster was to blame for the situation. She said she is “trying to figure out how the situation can be handled going forward.”
“I am not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them many times if they can handle this kind of demand and we were assured that they can,” she added. “It’s really amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really bothers me that so many of them feel like they’ve gone through several bear attacks to get them.”
Swift stated that she hopes to provide more opportunities in the future for all of her fans who were not able to obtain tickets for the tour.
“Thanks for being there,” she said. “You have no idea how much this means to me.”
