Three killed in bus and tractor collision in Virginia

Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision early Friday in York County, Virginia, that left three people dead.

Two commercial vehicles – a tractor-trailer and a passenger bus – collided in the eastbound lane of Interstate 64 and the 241 mile marker at approximately 1:38 p.m. York County is about a half hour from Newport News, Virginia.

State police have confirmed the death of three people. Both the drivers and the remaining passengers on the bus are being treated for various injuries and have been taken to area hospitals for treatment.

There were a total of 22 passengers in the bus. State police say no one was wearing a seatbelt.

The Virginia State Police Motor Carrier Safety Team and the Virginia State Police Chesapeake Division Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing.
