Green Sprouts is recalling thousands of stainless steel bottles and sippy cups sold nationwide because the base of the products may break down, putting children at risk of lead-poisoning.
The Asheville, North Carolina, company has received seven reports of bottles cracking at the base, exposing lead-containing solder dots that could be ingested by young children, according to a recall notice posted Friday by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Green Sprouts said in a separate release, “As we redesign these products, whose benefits of keeping drinks safely cold have made them a popular choice for parents, we will ensure that Lead is not used as a soldering material.”
The company encouraged customers to continue using the recalled product’s plant-plastic and silicone lids and spout with other Green Sprouts cups and bottles, while disposing of the stainless steel components in the trash.
