Two officers killed, one seriously injured in firing near ESPN headquarters

State Police said on Twitter that two officers were killed and a third seriously injured in a shootout late Wednesday in Bristol, Connecticut.

“We ask for your thoughts and prayers to be with the families, officers and all those affected,” he said.

State police said they responded to reports of shots fired by an officer shortly after 11 p.m.

There was no information about the identities of the officers or the reason for the bullets.

CBS Hartford affiliate WFSB-TV says the scene was a residential area about a half-mile from ESPN headquarters.

Ted Kraviek, an eyewitness, told the station, “We just like to hear gunshots like, ‘pop pop pop pop pop’ and stop, and then pause for maybe 30 seconds and then another round. Pop pop pop pop’ and then just stopped. And then [we] Started hearing sirens and everything else.”
