Woman killed in test drive crash outside Florida car dealership

A 76-year-old passenger was killed when a test vehicle driven by an 86-year-old man veered into the path of a car just outside a Florida car dealership.

Polk County sheriff’s officials said in a news release that the accident happened Saturday evening in Winter Haven, which is southwest of Orlando.

Investigators said the man — identified by CBS affiliate WKMG as Clifford Worm — was driving a test 2023 Nissan Rogue, turned left in front of an oncoming vehicle as they were returning to the car.

Officials said first responders found Jean Worm dead at the scene. Clifford Worm suffered minor injuries. The sales representative of the dealership, who went on the test drive, and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured, the report said.

The sheriff’s office said everyone in both vehicles was wearing seat belts.

An investigation is on.
