Woman missing for 2 months found dead near car that crashed under cliff in California

The body of a California woman was found near the site of her crashed car under a cliff, nearly two months after she was reported missing, officials said Tuesday. During a news conference on Tuesday, officials announced that the body of 22-year-old Jolissa Fuentes had been found in a rural area of Fresno County, CBS affiliate KGPE-TV reported.
In a separate Facebook post, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Selma Police Chief Rudy Alcaraz discovered the wreckage of the vehicle near Pine Flat Lake, suggesting there was a car accident.

Officials said Alcaraz contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and a search and rescue team responded at the site. Drones were flown and the deputy dropped more than 400 feet off the roadway and discovered a damaged car that belonged to Fuentes.
Officials said human remains and some personal belongings of Fuentes were found in the ravine.
Video from a Fresno County Sheriff’s Office drone showed a sharp curve in the road and steep terrain where Fuentes’ car crashed.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims praised Alcaraz for his efforts.
“He personally found the scene of the accident. He himself went to the mountains yesterday. He searched the areas that had already been explored, and he actually found the scene of the accident,” Mims said on Tuesday.
Fuentes was last seen on 7 August at 4 a.m. as she was driving away from an Arco gas station and was reported missing the next day.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, but officials said they believed Fuentes was most likely exhausted after waking up all night, KGPE-TV reported.
